Feeling Sciatica in the leg

Many individuals feel pain from sciatica in the leg on one side of their body.  This is because the sciatic nerve is causing the sensations of pain moving from your lower back through your buttocks. This pain really isn’t located in your leg.  It’s actually located in your lower back.  The thing with sciatica in the leg is that your senses are interrupted and interpreted as being in the leg.

You see generally the sciatic nerve is responsible for making sure that your brain receives senses from your lower limbs.  Then your brain sends signals down to your limbs telling them when to move and specifically what to do.  When you have sciatica in the leg, the signals in a nut shell tend to get misinterpreted. You will find that you may feel tingling and numbness as well as pain.  Keep in mind that the sciatic nerve once damaged can cause pain.  This translates into pain radiating in the wrong place, such as your lower limbs when it’s actually in your lower back.

You can reduce the sciatica in the leg and the pain that you can feel, by making sure that you do things to treat it.  You can utilize warm baths or ice packs.  If you decide to utilize the ice packs be sure to only do it in 20 minute increments.  You would place it on the section of your lower back where the nerve is most inflamed.  This will help to relieve some of the swelling.  You can also utilize stretching.  You want to make sure that you keep your limbs stretched and that you exercise. 

If your choice is to have surgery or perhaps have the sciatic nerve cauterized, then the sciatica in the leg will more than likely disappear.  Keep in mind that you will have some recovery time.  If you chose not to go this route, but the natural route, remember that once you start a regime, stick with it.

Now yoga will provide you with the ability to stretch as well as work your muscles.  There are many poses that work for the sole purpose of strengthening your back, which when it comes to sciatica relief is key.  It’s the thing that’s going to help you with your standing and walking.  If you make the muscles strong and align your back at the same time, the likely hood of needing surgery will drop exponentially. 

While these are a few options that you can look into if you would like a non surgical alternative move cautiously when trying any option be it minor or major.  Especially if it could cause you more harm than good.  It doesn’t pay to find sciatica relief, only to later be in more pain than when you first started.
